Turf Yard for Dogs

As a dog owner, you’ll want the best outdoor space possible for your four-legged friends. If you’re unsure what material to use for your dog yard, consider artificial turf. It’s shock-absorbing and soft, making it a great place for your dogs to run around or relax. It’s also beneficial for you, eliminating dead patches of grass and making it easy to maintain. A turf yard for dogs is a great place for them to play, pee, pop, or just roll around for hours.

How Are Turf Yards For Dogs Are Installed

  1. Excavate and Install Perimeter

First, we’ll remove any vegetation, debris, or soil to make the site clean and level. Workers will use shovels, machines, or rakes to excavate the area.

  1. Add crushed stone (gravel)

After the excavation and installation of the perimeter, crushed stone is spread over the prepared ground. This provides a solid base for the turf and helps with drainage, preventing water build-up.

  1. Add a stabilization fabric

Then we’ll add weed barrier fabric over the layer of crushed stone. This fabric prevents weeds from growing up through it while still allowing water to drain. It also keeps the materials below the surface from entering the surface turf layer.

  1. Add surface material (dog-friendly turf)

Finally, it’s time to roll out and align the dog-friendly turf. We’ll trim it so it’s properly aligned with the perimeter and has a neat appearance.

Yes, turf is a good idea for dogs. It offers a number of benefits such as increased cleanliness, enhanced safety from insects and unwanted objects, extra softness and comfort for your dog, and it helps keep your dog’s health in check.

We recommend having a solid base layer, some sort of drainage system, and a geotextile fabric to ensure the longevity, safety, and ease of maintenance of your turf yard. That’s why we include a crushed stone base layer and a weed barrier fabric in our artificial turf yard for dogs.

The size of your turf yard will depend on your dog’s breed and size, the yard’s intended use, and your personal preference. For an average-sized dog, you’ll want it to be a minimum of 200 to 400 square feet. However, you’ll probably want more room for an exercise area.

Artificial grass can be difficult to maintain, retain heat, and dispose of. While it requires less maintenance than natural grass, cleaning up debris or pet waste is important. In addition, it retains heat, which can make it too hot to touch in warm months. Finally, because turf yards are artificial, they are potentially harmful to the environment if not properly disposed of.
